This personal injury compensation business is probably the best known claims management company ever to grace the British market place but not for the best of reasons for everything that is wrong about accident claims management companies was wrapped up in this story.
Founded by Mark Langford The Accident Group became the biggest accident claims management company in the British Isles exposing itself through popular media such as television advertising and national press. Off the back of The Accident Group the compensation culture was born. Founded as a small personal injury service in 1993 TAG exploded into a major claims management company in the late nineties following the Access to Justice Act 1999 which created a huge market place for No Win No Fee cases.
The Accident Group is also famous for creating the catch phrase ‘Where theres a Blame theres a Claim’. Based in Manchester as part of the Amulet Group TAG was once hailed as one of Britains fastest growing companies with a turnover in excess of £200m. On the 30 May 2003 the company collapsed over night with over two and a half thousand employees being sensationally dismissed without pay by notice of text message.
Disgraced Mark Langford and his wife disappeared to Spain with a reported ten million pounds leaving thousands of people back in Britain without salary or in many cases the compensation they were looking to receive because their cases were thrown into turmoil.
