The Fraud Act 2006

Tackling a long standing problem in the form insurance fraud has now received some official support with the establishment of the Fraud Act 2006 which is now official legislation. Part of the problem of such fraud has been staged car accidents and fraudulent claims for personal injury.

The Association of British Insurers believes that this illegal practice has cost the insurance industry over £200m and if continued would add another 20,000 plus fraudulent accidents into the equation within the next two years.
