£85,000 in Compensation
An airport fireman was performing a training exercise on a smoke filled aeroplane used to simulate air disasters, when he slipped on water inside the plane. He injured his knee, failed the Fire Service medical and was forced to leave the Fire Service on medical grounds.

The Fire Service said that the procedure had to be suitably realistic in order to replicate life threatening conditions of a smoke-filled aeroplane, that protection of the public was a high priority and all possible precautions were taken to prevent accidents while training. We agreed that the training was necessary but argued that they should still meet the client’s claim as he was now unable to carry on with his vocation because of the injuries he sustained. A settlement was agreed and we recovered £85,000 for him.

Initially, the client was represented by solicitors from his Trade Union but moved his case to us for a more personal service. He set up his own haulage firm with the compensation.

£35,000 in Compensation
One of our clients was a passenger in a car whose driver swerved to avoid a farmer’s dog that ran out into the path of the car. The driver avoided the dog but collided with a tree - our client hurt his shoulder. The original solicitors pursued the farmer who was a "man of straw" and closed their file as they felt the case would not succeed. The client came to us and we recovered £35,000 for him.

£37,500 in Compensation
One of our client’s was in an accident with a foreign HGV driver on the motorway. The lorry collided with the side of our clients car and caused his injuries. He was OK for a while but suffered a PTSD reaction later. At the time, he was in the throes of bankruptcy and was willing to accept the first offer of £2500 to settle his case quickly. However following detailed advice we recovered £37,500 for him.

Faulty Goods
One of our clients was electrocuted with a faulty kettle when he was living in rented accommodation - he was a former soldier who had spent a couple of tours of duty in Northern Ireland in the 80's, and the accident brought on a Post Traumatic Stress Disorder reaction to the electrocution incident which caused him a lot of problems in his personal life. We obtained an admission of liability and linked the electrocution to the Post Traumatic Stress Disorder reaction, the matter is set for trail on compensation in June.

Face Painting a Child
A five year old child went to another child’s birthday party at a fun pub, which involved face painting - the child had a "Spiderman" mask painted on his face whilst at the party. No patch test was done on the child who suffered a reaction to the paint so that when the paint was washed off a rash (Dermatitis) had developed leaving an imprint of the Spiderman mask remaining on his face. Fortunately this was not permanent and only lasted a few weeks but we obtained an admission of liability from the Defendant brewery chain and recovered damages for the child.

Badly fitting shoes
A child went with their parents to a shoe retailer to buy some shoes. The retailer did not measure the child’s feet correctly and sold ill fitting shoes which led to the child suffering blisters to the tops of both feet which left scarring. We successfully obtained an admission of liability and damages for him for the scarring.
