Insurance industry is calling for faster settlement of injury compensation claims in the UK

The Association of British Insurers is calling, on behalf of its members to see improvements to the current injury compensation claims system in order for settlements to be agreed and delivered at a much faster rate than they are currently.

Insurance companies are more often than not the paying party defendants in injury compensation claims and one of their biggest concerns is not, ironically the settlement figure to the claimant but the legal and associated costs that run along side the claimants case.

Massive improvements have been made over the past few years but the changes haven't gone far enough according to the insurance industry.

The ABI believe on average road traffic injury compensation claims are taking 2yrs to complete, in which time legal bills continue to mount. Early intervention by insurance companies and mediation have been attempted by the defendant insurers but are often dismissed by defendants as being shortfall deals that simply don't offer the claimant the best injury compensation deal they could have got if they had used a personal injury solicitor.
